Attracting Robberies?

Joe Vitale just wrote about getting robbed just before leaving Hollywood.  And my partner Nan was robbed this last summer in Austin.  I see Joe’s philosophy on it.  Both Nan and Joe attracted it.  They both love being generous and wanting new things.  For my Nan she was running out of space on her iPod and boom it was stolen and she ordered the just released bigger iPod a couple of days later.  Sure it was tramatic.  She was upset.  Just like I believe Joe was.

Joe says:

I “gave” it to someone who felt they needed it.

As you can see, there were very real reasons for me to attract that robbery.

After all, other expensive items in my luggage were not taken; only the things I was apparently ready to let go of.

I’m actually excited about getting a new laptop and a new ipod nano and of course attracting more cash. :)

In the future I’ll be better about acknowledging my wants and acting on them rather than creating an uncomfortable way to justify them.

But today I’ve forgiven and forgotten.

And I’ve ordered a new laptop and a new ipod nano.

May this be a lesson or two for you, too.

Always go for your dreams and honor your wants.

Who’s Afraid of Prosperity?

I use to listen to people that believed in a million conspiracies.  Some I know are true.  A vast majority are not I believe.  I saw these people become more and more broke.  If you made money you were hurting everyone and feeding the “system”.  If you were broke it was good.  I never really understand their logic.

So when I started to focus on prosperity those people in my life faded away.  Now when ever I see them I can’t believe I use to hang out with them.  How depressing they are.

Many people and even people that don’t believe in conspiracies think that countries like China and India becoming 1st world countries will hurt us and the entire world.  John Stossel brings us an article about this illogical thinking.

…media handwringers suggest we should worry about the poor becoming rich.Actually, we shouldn’t. It would be a sad world if one person’s economic success depended on another’s failure?

More of us would understand this if we learned what the great economics writer Henry Hazlitt preached in his classic book, “Economics in One Lesson”: “The art of economics consists in looking not merely at the immediate but at the longer effects of any act or policy.”

In the short run, richer Chinese and Indians bid up the prices of things. But that’s just the beginning of the story. Increased demand and higher prices create opportunities for entrepreneurs.

When the price of, say, oil goes up, entrepreneurs and inventors have a strong incentive to: 1) find more, 2) find alternatives, and 3) find ways to use oil more efficiently. You and I cannot foresee what they will invent, but that means nothing. Predictions about the end of progress have been issued countless times. There is no reason to think they will be right this time.

Hot tub ideas

I’m know for being Mr. Jacuzzi.  I can sit and enjoy a good jacuzzi for hours.  I’m the first one to notify management when at a resort if the jacuzzi isn’t working or too cold.  The condo we are renting right now has excellent management and the jacuzzi is very good.

So, I wanted to be able to record ideas I get in the jacuzzi as I’m in it for awhile.  My handy moleskine notebook would get wet and my digital voice recorder doesn’t like water so I would just have to remember whatever I came up with so I could write it down inside.  Well, after a couple of hours of hot bubbling water and maybe a couple of drinks I have a tendency to forget.

Then I remember my scuba diving days with a Diver’s slate and being able to write underwater at 50 feet.  This diver’s slate has been working wonders for me.  I’ve recorded many ideas while masterminding or brainstorming in the jacuzzi.  I then bring it back with me and the next day put it into my idea tracker system.

Some tips, it does glow in the dark and you need an eraser and pencil sharpener.

Here is to your future jacuzzi mastermind sessions.  May they be profitable and full of fun.

Captain Richard Branson voyaging to the bottom of the sea

Richard Branson’s ideas just never stop.  Now Virgin is looking into exploring the oceans.  Since only 95% of them are explored this is a good idea.  Wondering how Branson and other people like hiim do this?  Branson’s idea recording techniques is in my book Play Prosperity Games.

HE’S crossed the Atlantic in a balloon, the English Channel by amphibious car and will soon leave earth’s orbit in his private spaceship.

And for his next trip, Sir Richard Branson is voyaging to the bottom of the sea.

Like a real Captain Nemo, he has secret plans to build a submarine capable of exploring the lowest depths of the oceans. The idea is said to have been that of his friend Steve Fossett, the American adventurer missing since his plane disappeared over the Nevada desert in September.
