Light The Way For Your Kids With The Law of Attraction

Here is a guest article by Rhonda Ryder Founder of KidsAwakening.com

One of the best ways to share The Law of Attraction with your children and teenagers is to model how this law works in your own life. In fact, modeling the benefits of The Law of Attraction is far more effective than trying to teach your children these concepts with words.

Sure, we learn from the words in books and movies…but if you really want your children to understand that they are creators of their own realities, living this truth yourself is the best thing you can do.

How Can You Model Law Of Attraction Thinking To Your Children?

When something you’ve been trying to create manifests in your life, let your children know. If they’re not interested, that’s okay. This isn’t about preaching or pushing this way of thinking on anyone, including your kids.

However, you could make a habit of allowing them to overhear you telling a friend about your experiences with The Law of Attraction. Or you could invite someone over to watch an enlightening movie with you. If your child is interested, they might join you. The most important thing is to let your kids see you as being joyful. Do your best to constantly raise your vibration.

What If You’re Stuck At A Low Vibration?

So what should you do if you’re going through a hard time? Should you hide your feelings from your children in fear that you might be setting a bad example?

You cannot really hide sadness, depression or anger from your children. They pick up on just about everything, including your energy or vibration. No matter how much you put on a happy face, they can still feel your energy. In addition, you may often find that your children reflect back the emotions that you, yourself are trying to hide.

If you are guided to do so, and if it seems appropriate, why not use this opportunity to be honest with your children and tell them that you’re feeling sad, angry or frustrated. You don’t need to tell them the details of your situation. If you’re not sure what to say, remind yourself to be in the moment and the words will come. If the words don’t come, then just “be” with your child. This is also a form of communication and love.

You could also mention to your kids that you would like to work your way up the emotional ladder to feeling better. Why? For one, you enjoy feeling better and two, you know that by feeling better, you will attract more and more of the things you want into your life.

The trick is to do whatever you can to keep raising your emotions toward joy. The books that continue to help me raise my vibration are the Abraham-Hicks books, especially, “Ask And It Is Given.”

Again, your first responsibility is to take care of yourself. Sure, things come up and we have challenges. Work through it and don’t beat yourself up, but know that by expanding your understanding of The Law of Attraction and applying this understanding to your own life, you will provide a powerful example for your children and teenagers to do the same.

Choosing Your Parents Before Birth

by Rhonda Ryder

I’ve always been fascinated with the whole subject of choosing our own parents. I believe we make arrangements before we’re born and choose certain roles we’ll play in each other’s lives. Someone might actually accept the role of “alcoholic father” just to help us learn a particular life lesson.

I had such a father who won the role of “Rhonda’s alcoholic dad”. I love my dad and learned a lot from him and I know he loves me, even though he wasn’t always emotionally available. We have a wonderful relationship today. My father’s been sober for eight years, but it was a long, winding road to get there.

I wasn’t always so accepting of the pre-birth agreements I made in regards to who would play the roles of my parents in this lifetime. I often questioned such choices, for this arrangement seemed to bring me lots of frustration and pain. But life has a way of making sense eventually. At least it has for me. By studying The Law of Attraction, I began to take full responsibility for my life and all the experiences I’ve created. This is my movie; I am the author and I’ve written the script. How can I be angry at my parents when they’re only reciting the lines I’ve asked them to speak?

This is sometimes a difficult concept to understand, especially when you’ve collected years of evidence demonstrating how your parents “messed you up.” Believe me, I’ve been there.

Studying The Law of Attraction has changed all that. I now understand that I am the creator of my experience. In fact, I chose having an alcoholic dad before I was even born.

Imagine if children were taught, from an early age that they choose their parents, and their parents choose them. How would that make them feel? You could say it depends on how happy they are with the arrangement. This is true. But learning early on that they have the power to attract what they want in their lives is pretty useful information, wouldn’t you agree?

Imagine a world where parents share The Law of Attraction thinking with their infants and toddlers and raise them to know that they’re the creators of their own lives. This is my dream and my passion. That’s why I started Kids Awakening, an organization that teaches parents how to share The Law of Attraction with their children and teenagers. We interview parents who are raising their children with Law of Attraction thinking. We also interview high profile spiritual leaders, teachers and authors, and share this information with other parents and educators.

Sharing The Law of Attraction with your children is not about pushing your beliefs on them. It’s about being a model for your children of what living a joyous life is all about. Perfection is not the goal here, just progress!

I found a quote from an Abraham-Hicks workshop in Albany, NY held in 2001 that sums it up best:

“The most significant thing for a parent to contribute to anyone, is their own Connection and their own stability. An effective parent is a happy parent. An effective parent is a parent who laughs easily and often, and who doesn’t take things so seriously.”

Is Taking Action Part of the Law of Attraction Formula?

Is Taking Action Part of the Law of Attraction Formula?

There has been so much feedback about the movie “The Secret” implying that you can wish your way into having something you want without taking action. Just visualize what you want and “poof” it’s yours. For me, the message of taking action is clear throughout the entire movie. This is an important distinction to understand, especially when sharing the Law of Attraction with our kids and teens. Most high-profile spiritual leaders (Dr. Joe Vitale, T. Harv Eker, Dr. John DeMartini, Mike Dooley, for instance) will tell you that you cannot expect to achieve your goals if you are unwilling to take action. If you want to start a business, for instance, you have to take the necessary steps. The Law of Attraction does not mean that you simply picture something in your mind and you will create it. Perhaps that happens for some and if you know anyone who has reached that level of spiritual enlightenment, I’d love to interview them. I know these beings exist! But for the rest of us, we need to take the appropriate actions in the direction of our dreams.

You Don’t Have to Figure Out the “How”

The distinction here is that while you need to take action, you do not have to figure out the “How”. In other words, you don’t have to figure out “How” your End Result is actually going to manifest. Just do what’s in front of you to do. The Universe will figure out the rest. Follow your guidance. Mediate every day so you can get in touch with your Source. Then ask yourself each day, what I am guided to do today? If your teenager is starting an Internet business, for instance, she would need to decide what the product or service is going to be, do some research, get the hosting set up, choose a domain name, get the website designed and then market the website. However, like any entrepreneur, she will not have everything figured out. Perhaps she has no idea where she is going to get the money to hire a website designer. And that’s okay. The important thing is that she gets clear about her “End Result”. What is her ultimate goal? What is her particular “Why” behind wanting to create this business?

Here are some examples:

  • Make enough money to buy a new car
  • Travel throughout Europe this summer
  • Start investing in stocks and live a luxurious lifestyle
  • Buy my parents a nice gift for their anniversary
  • Travel to Africa with youth group to feed hungry children

Help your child or teen identify his or her End Result, take the appropriate actions and not worry about how it’s all going to come together. Let the Universe work its magic! Say your son wants to get into a certain college but his grades are low. Should he just close his eyes and visualize better grades? Yes, it will be most helpful for him to visualize, but there are also other logical, appropriate actions he needs to take. Or perhaps your three-year old wants a new “talking” doll. If you wanted to take this opportunity to teach her how to attract what she wants, you could say something like this: “What actions can we take to get the new doll? You could practice picturing what you want in your mind and then you could take some actions too. You could save up money in your piggy bank or ask Grandma to buy it for your birthday. Do you have any other ideas?” If I think back on how certain things have happened for me, I could not have orchestrated it better if I tried. I had no way of knowing that attending a seminar in Atlanta and meeting person “A” would lead me to person “B” which would lead me to an interview with person “C” that would skyrocket my career. Let’s fact it. It is highly doubtful that we know everything there is to know about how the Universe works. So how could we possibly do a better job at planning and arranging things to our own benefit than the Universe? The point is for us to check with Spirit and ask “What’s next? What actions should I take?” Teach your children how to check in with spirit. And then teach them to trust the guidance they receive and follow their instincts throughout the day.

What’s the Best Way to Teach Kids The Law of Attraction?

If you want to share The Law of Attraction with your children, make your own spiritual growth your first priority. In fact, that is the most precious gift you can give to your children: a parent who is nurturing his or her own spirit.
