Richard Branson along with Peter Gabriel started The Elders. A great idea. They are people the world trust and are free from politica, military and economic pressures.
We are moving to a global village and yet we don’t have our global elders. The Elders could be a group who have the trust of the world, who can speak freely, be fiercely independent, and respond fast and flexibly in conflict situations.

Richard Branson’s Virgin has a foundation that I thought my readers would like to know about during these holidays.
Virgin Unite is the entrepreneurial foundation of the Virgin Group. We work with great partners all over the world to develop new approaches to social and environmental issues.
We’re fortunate that Richard and the Virgin group pick up our overhead costs – so 100% of all donations go directly to the frontline where it is needed the most.
We believe that the only way we are going to drive the scale of change that needs to happen in the world, is if we revolutionize the way that the business and social sectors work together.
We want to use all the entrepreneurial energy across the Virgin Group to help drive this revolution.

This is the type of charity work that I find inspiring. Give where you do business.
Sir Richard Branson, founder of the Virgin Group, announced that Virgin would help to create a vital new elephant corridor, north of Mount Kenya, which would provide a lifeline for local communities and the dwindling elephant population in the region.
Around 2 000 elephants, part of the Laikipia-Samburu elephant population, will benefit from the Virgin Mount Kenya Elephant Corridor, which will cost up to $1mn to build and maintain over the next ten years. Sir Richard is donating $250 000 to the project. It will be created between the Ngare Ndare Forest Reserve and the Mount Kenya National Reserve, enabling elephants to benefit from the diverse resources offered by each habitat. Mount Kenya is a World Heritage site and one of the most impressive landscapes in Eastern Africa.
Sir Richard made the announcement as he arrived in Kenya to launch Virgin Atlantic’s new daily service between London Heathrow and the Kenyan capital, Nairobi.
