The times of having quicky products, products that are for a lack of a better word “crap” are over. People won’t put up with bad products anymore. You’re probably thinking people use to? Yeah, I’ve meet many millionaires that sold horrible products. They realized that the tide changed and started making great products. If you’re starting out you don’t have a choice, you have to have a great product or service.

That’s the first thing you need to create customer loyalty is a great product or service. Next would be a brand to show off your product or service.

The brand is you or your company and what it stands for. It’s your attitude, your feelings. Your style. Your product has to match your brand.

When your brand and products are aligned and make sense to your target audience then it clicks. People align with your brand and when you have that you have the opportunity to create great and long lasting customer loyalty.

They love you, they think your products rock and when you come out with something new they want it. Some clients buy things in some stores just for the shopping experience they actual product is a minor part of it, but the product is awesome. The experience is awesome on steroids.

Do something unexpected.

Communicate, I know simple thing but many companies don’t do this

Train all consultants and employees in your brand and how you do things things, have a fantastic company culture

Be flexible, you’re working with people

Offer discounts, rewards and other gifts, reward loyalty

Survey your audience to learn more

Educate your customers on what you do when you contact them

Handle complaints nicely, the customer is always right and you have the right to fire a customer and move on if it’s bad for your business

Study your competition

Go the extra mile

If you haven’t started or are stuck and need help defining your brand call me. I do online brand analysis’ now and I can stream line your brand and your product mix. Give me a call at 512-772-2798.

Have something that would make yourself proud that you created and treat your customers like family (minus the fights) and you’ll have life long customer loyalty.

Bale didn’t wait to see the dailies before getting upset. He knew that the scene was ruined and he wanted to fix it right then and there.

He follows what I now call the “Christian Bale model;” the product itself is the goal, not the profit from the product. Making money is not a job; it’s a result of one.

If bank executives followed the Bale model, home loans would have been given out to the people who could actually afford homes. Foreclosure rates would be lower, and they would still be making enough money to buy expensive furnishings.

Are you passionate enough to tell people what you want?

A Virgin Atlantic spokesman said that an offer has been extended to the complainant to select new meals to serve on the airline.

“While we investigated his complaint seriously, and following Richard Branson’s phone call, we’ve invited him to our catering house to select the next range of meals and wines we serve on board. Then we can ensure his personal taste is well and truly catered for,” said the representative.

This made me laugh. Richard Branson and Virgin are so smart. Wouldn’t you want a truly discerning person picking out your meals for your airline? This is just so brilliant.

Virgin has what some are calling the world’s best passenger complaint letter floating around. It’s been emailed around the world. Of course it is very embarrasing for Richard Branson and everyone at Virgin. They are know for excellent service, but the passenger has some valid points with pictures.

I learn more and fix more from complaining customers. Of course every business owner wants their product or service to be fantastic so their clients do not have anything to complain about, but if that doesn’t happen a complaining customer is fantastic. At least you know what to fix.

I use to not speak up at restaurants and take what they served. Then I starting dating my girlfriend Nan and she would speak up. And she got what she wanted. I was embarrassed a little the first couple of times but I soon realized that how is the waiter/waitress supposed to know unless you say something. You speak up, they fix it and everyone is happy.

Paul Charles, Virgin’s Director of Corporate Communications, confirmed that Sir Richard Branson had telephoned the author of the letter and had thanked him for his “constructive if tongue-in-cheek” email. Mr Charles said that Virgin was sorry the passenger had not liked the in-flight meals which he said was “award-winning food which is very popular on our Indian routes.”

So Richard Branson called the client which was a great move for him to do. I also think that Richard has launched a look into food quality so this never happens again.

Service operators generally suck at saying they’re sorry. I should know, I’ve had to do it plenty of times and it’s always hard. There’s really never a great way to say it, but there sure are plenty of terrible ways.

One of the worst stock dummies that even I have resorted to in a moment of weakness is this terrible non-apology: “We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused”. Oh please. Let’s break down why it’s bad:

Have you ever taken a business survey where you just wish it would end? I have. I think surveys should be really simple. Just a handful of questions.

This article discussing how just the wording of a survey can throw off the results and the bottom line is really just one question.

According to Dave, some of the most revealing customer surveys can be quite simple. Dave cites Fred Reichheld’s idea that one can distill customer satisfaction surveys down to one question:

“Would you recommend our service to your friends and colleagues?”

This is a powerful question because it gauges whether or not customers like your product enough to put their own reputations on the line with their friends and colleagues.
