I don’t watch the news ever.  However, I do have friends that do.  So, if something major happens I hear about it.  And all my friends are talking about the recession and some are using the words crash and depression.

They are worried about losing their job or their business crashing and having to work at Starbucks.  Sorry to say the nearby Starbucks may go out of business before they will have a chance.

Yet my business is booming.  Why?

Donald Trump was recently quoted as saying that right now is an excellent time to make money if you know what you are doing.  I know a great many real estate investors that during the high times thought they were unbelievable business people and right now they are broke.  When the economy is doing well it’s easy to make money.  When the economy is down it is still easy however you have to have the right skills.  Like not spending more than you make.  Pretty easy but in an up economy many people don’t do this.  I know hard to believe but very very common.

So my business is booming because I provide excellent customer service for my webdesign and hosting clients.  So many of my competitors are absolutely horrible at this.  The stories I hear every week are almost unreal but true.

I have provide materials for people to bring an idea from their heart to reality via Prosperity Games, websites and coaching.  I strive to be the best, period.

What are you the best at?  How can you differentiate yourself from everyone else?  You’ll get thru this recession by not believing that there is a recession for you.  Other people may think there is a recession and suffer because of it and then there will be you that thinks this is an excellent time to grow.  The choice is yours.

If you are running out of time to do what you want to do then partner with someone that can help.  I was having this same problem and I started to partner with people.  I have a ton of products coming on down the pipeline and I’m partnering on most of them.

There is always a way to get something done.  It is just a matter of figuring it out…or better yet intending it.

Sandpipers run towards the waves to eat and take their opportunity.  Then when the waves come back they get out of the way.  They seize the day and take their opporunity.

Virgin is entering the Russian market.  Is this a sign that Russia is stable enough for business?

Virgin Group Ltd., an international conglomeration, is prepared to enter the Russian market. This week the company is to announce that the federal mobile operator Virgin using WiMAX technology is coming to 30 Russian cities.

The service will be provided by operator Trivon established in 2004 and partially controlled by Virgin Group, a major shareholder.

Richard Branson has an alternative fuel company Virgin Fuel and has successfully flown a commercial jet with the alternative fuel which is remoured to have algae in it.  He is also hedging his bets with this Virgin Oil deal.  Since there is so much money to be made in oil he see opportunity.  And Richard Branson can use some of the profit to help in his alternative fuel company Virgin Fuel.  Good move Richard.

BILLIONAIRE tycoon Sir Richard Branson plans to launch a new company, called Virgin Oil, to help build a £1.1 billion refinery to supply airline fuel.
Sir Richard will put about £55 million into the venture, which he hopes will be launched within the next five months. He also hopes to pull in further funding from other airlines and the Government.

Informal talks have already been held with Willie Walsh, the incoming British Airways chief executive. Behind the move is an attempt to tackle the global rise in oil prices.

“Our fuel bill has risen by $300 million [£164.5m] for this year alone,” Sir Richard said. “The biggest problem with the oil price is the lack of refinery capacity. There’s enough oil for everyone in the world, but the refineries are just not there.”

Sir Richard also indicated that the Virgin was drawing up plans for an oil exploration business.

* Bad Profits. It’s a term coined by Fred Reichheld, author of The Ultimate Question: Driving Good Profits and True Growth. Here’s what he says about bad profits:

Bad profits often boost short-term earnings; in the long run, they burn out employees and alienate customers. They also undermine growth by creating legions of detractors—customers who sully the firm’s reputation and switch to competitors at the earliest opportunity. Bad profits choke off a company’s best opportunities for true growth, the kind of growth that is both profitable and sustainable.

Charging customers a fee to talk to your customer service, or to use your service or to make changes to their account, is at the top for ways to generate bad profits and burn out employees and alienate customers. Like I said, if it was working why aren’t companies who do it thriving?

Most everyone knows that Richard Branson is doing very well.  As the founder of Virgin which owns over 350 different companies and his famous Necker Island, he’s one of the most wealthy men in the world.

But did you know that his parents had to remortage their home back in the early 70’s so their son wouldn’t go to jail?

Most people use remortgages for home improvements, consolidating debt, perhaps a special purchase, or even that once-in-a-lifetime holiday. However, Eve and Ted Branson put their home on the line and mortgaged themselves to the hilt to save their 20-year-old son from a possible spell in prison. The money they raised was paid directly to HM Customs & Excise to cover unpaid duty and fines due because their son, Richard Branson, had been selling records in the UK that were approved only for export.

His parents’ financial intervention allowed Branson to settle out of court, and so not only saved him a fortune in court costs, but saved him from the possibility of being jailed. How many people wouldn’t bat an eyelid and instantly remortgage their substantial home in order to save their wayward son from prison is open to debate. However, the Bransons had no such qualms and their faith in their son has since been repaid in droves. Not only did he pay them back in full, but he went on to establish a hugely successful business empire that has made him a multi-billionaire.

Apparently there is a lot of stories about the economy in the USA is slowing down and prosperity is disappearing.  I say Apparently because I don’t watch the negative news, I focus on the positive and look for opportunity everywhere.

This morning I’m reading my email and I have three tips in my inbox.  All three show that prosperity and opportunity is abound.

Green By The Numbers show statistics that green related fields are very economically viable and growing in the future.   After decades of almost no growth the green industry is growing.

• In 2002, the solar industry market was worth $200 million dollars. In 2007, the estimated worth of the solar industry market was $2 billion dollars.
• In 2005, the environmental industry created more than 5.3 million jobs in the US. Ten times more than the number of jobs created by the US pharmaceutical industry.
• By 2030, the renewable energy and energy efficiency industries could create 40 million new jobs in the US.
• In Europe, a 20 percent increase in energy efficiency is estimated to create a million new jobs.
• Typically, green collar jobs pay four dollars more than the living wage standard, provide health benefits, meaningful work, and occupational mobility.

Clean-tech investors Benchmark Capital and Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Green Fund are wagering that rating a driver’s performance can offer a profitable path to improved fuel economy and reduced accidents and carbon dioxide emissions.

Branson To Start Virgin Russia also shows that traditional business still has room to grow within the world.  This time to Russia where they really need a decent airline.

Billionaire Richard Branson has announced plans to start an airline in Russia, tentatively called Virgin Russia. He plans to take advantage of the oil-fueled Russian economy, which has given the average Russian more money (and an airline market that’s growing at around 10 percent a year). “We hope to offer the Russian people a really good airline. We may be able to do it a little better than is being done at the moment,” said Branson. “We’re in discussion with two or three partners.” Branson also noted that there are “150 million people here within a three-hour flight from Moscow.”

So see opportunity everywhere.  See your prosperity growing.  Look for opportunity.  Seize the day and do it.

And for his next trip, Sir Richard Branson is voyaging to the bottom of the sea.

Like a real Captain Nemo, he has secret plans to build a submarine capable of exploring the lowest depths of the oceans. The idea is said to have been that of his friend Steve Fossett, the American adventurer missing since his plane disappeared over the Nevada desert in September.

My friend Bob emailed me article link late last night. Bob knows I’m a fan of Richard Branson. 2008 will be the year of commercial space flight. You see new business models are being created all the time. Richard Branson sold Virgin Megastores in the UK and has moved on to space flight and alternative fuels. He goes with the flow.

How do you know when it’s time to leave what you are doing and move on?

I’ve had to make this decision a few times in my past.  In the past I’ve stayed with things longer than I now think I should have.  I like speed, but I don’t want to move on to fast.

I’ve learned to do some deeper introspection to get clear on your motivations for leaving.

If you feeling avoidance or fear then realize that and write up proof of why you should leave.  If you stay you may find additional opportunities.

If you feel that you’re done and leaving is the best thing you can do then, do it – fast.  Moving on will provide you with more opportunity.  It also helps the people around you as what you are doing isn’t fulfilling them either.

It’s exciting to find out what is next in life.  Be excited about yours.
